Limi valley is rarely visited and the villages in this region are untouched by modernity. The isolated location gives us the feeling of stepping backwards in time. Limi valley is under developed and lags behindany modern attributes. The people residing in this region are of Tibetan descent and heritages, speaking Tibetan languages and following a Tibetan culture.
The trek starts from Simikot of Humla which is a less frequently traveled region 2910 m high. The trip then continues by climbing up Nara La pass, 4530 meters and making a circle back to Simikot via Limi valley through the quaint Nyalu La which lies 4950 meters. This strong but worthwhile trek presents the opportunity to summon the sociable villagers of upper Humla. It also gives you a chance to explore the monasteries which are very ancient; up to 1000 years old and knowledge the sole culture of the past still in act. Most focused region of this trek is the Limi valley itself which is very beautiful, symbolic, broad and astounding. This region is also the destination for rare flora and fauna. It can be seen throughout the trip as you get to caytch the sights of the Himalayan black bear , marmot, wild horse, wild yak, blue sheep, wolf, barking deer, musk deer, hare and if lucky enough even the snow leopard. The trekking route continues the olden salt trading and pilgrimage route to the border of Nepal and China, crossing the Nara La pass.
If you love being in an adventure and try something out of the ordinary, and very rustic life, Limi valley trek is a perfect get away as it is a rare trip towards the hidden valleys in the primitive areas of Nepal. The trek takes around a good one month time which begins from a flight to Kathmandu.
